Anyone that has lived here in the Venice area knows that Christmas is different here. First thing any new Floridian will notice is that people are putting up their lights in shorts – we can hardly imagine that if you’re coming from the North. I mean, I miss winter activities sometimes, but I also enjoy the abundance of sunny days, 75 degree weather and not shoveling snow.
Real Estate never stops in Florida – I guess it never stops anywhere but my agent friends up north would agree that the market slows down considerably from Nov-Feb. It’s still smoking-hot here – Venice homes are selling very quickly and rentals are very hard to come by. The Venice rental market is strong. Especially the short-term market in the winter months (although, my rentals stay about 80% filled throughout the rest of the year). I have managed short term rentals in Venice for over 10 years and I’ve seen an increase in demand and rent prices almost yearly. The eight rentals I manage are already booked for winter 2018 and they have been since late February/ early March. Websites like VRBO and Airbnb have become extremely popular and are great resources for potential renters – these websites make it easier for people outside Florida to get the information they need on availability. My advice if you are considering visiting Venice during the winter months, start your search early!
